Social Impact

Artist community

At Zaluso arts we pride ourselves on our artist community and the impact we make for the art culture, and future artists. Throughout our history as collective and a company, we have made it a point to impower the artist through opportunities to earn more than the usual local artist rates, as well as through events to showcase their work and skillsets. In 2019 alone we have commissioned over 25 different artists with over 6 million kwacha made in artist fees.

Community Impact

Part of our mission as an organisation is to impact and equip the future artist, and one of the ways we have been able to achive this is through workshops and training sessions partnering with organisations such as Cowater Sogema, British Council, and lake of Stars’ Festival of ideas. With their aide, we have been able to use art as teaching tool to pass on social messages and bring change to rural and urban youth.

Grants

In December 2018 we secured a grant through Hivos’ ROOM Partners project to help us enhance our office space into a full creative hub that is open to the public, and to run a 6-months mental health campaing; Make Life Worth living. The campaign engaged several online content creators to produce critical online content which was distributed through our social media pages.
