About Us

History

Zaluso Arts is a creative hub and arts collective, co-founded by Macpherson Ndalama with seed funding from the Arts and Global Health Centre Africa’s ‘Students with Dreams” project in 2014. The initial purpose of the collective was to respond to the negative attitude towards the arts in Malawi, the idea that no one could or should take visual arts seriously.

We have grown from simply being a platform that promotes individual local artists, to being a network of diverse and multi-talented young people redefining spaces and addressing important social issues using art

As an organization

Zaluso aims to promote Art in Malawi and create a community where artists can meet to learn, inspire and grow together. We are where art interacts with opportunity, the link between the creator and the market. We collaborate with a growing pool of over 100 artists in projects that bring about aesthetic value to living and working environments, and social transformation in the communities we work in. Over the last year, we have orchestrated partnerships with entities such as The American Embassy, British Council and Standard Bank, amassing close to $40,000 in revenue and artist remunerations. Our vision is to become a regional leader at connecting creatives to fulfilling jobs and careers.
